Show Observes 97th Birthday About fifty friends and relatives called at the home 01 "Aunt" Mary j Wilcox, Wednesday to tell her of their love and wish her a happy birthday, I this- being her ninety seventh (97) anniversary an-niversary Mrs. Wilcox the last of the 1347 pioneers of this city and one of the I few in the state, though feeble in body is still mentally alert and the usual charming conversationalist. Two of her daughters, Mrs. Peter I Meiling of Pavson and Mrs. Mary Westwood of Moab came to spend the day with her. Her posterity numbers almost 600 persons. Mary Young Wilcox this city's oldest old-est lady was born in Upper Canada. June 6. 1831 daughter of James and Elizabeth Young. She came with her I parents to Utah in 1847 she driving a , team of oxen th.V entire distance across the plains and assisted the parents in hauling logs and making adobes loi their first home in Salt Lake City. ! She married Henrv Wilcox in 1848 and in 1860 the family located in this city. She still attends special public and religious services and is an interested listener |
