Show Picking Bags Are Useful for Harvesting Apples The leading orchardists are using picking bags almost altogether at the present time for picking even the more tender of fruits such as the peach. The bag also enables the pickers pick-ers to work with both hands and the greatest speed may be reached with the least amount of bruising. In spite of this fact, however, pickers should be cautioned to use the utmost care in picking even the more firm varieties of apples. "Handle like eggs" is a rule which cannot be overemphasized. The advantages of the picking bag In preventing the bruising of fruits are many. Not only are there no hard surfaces for the fruit to fall against but In emptying the bag It may be lfted directly Into the transporting packages and no fruits need drop or bump against each oilier. The lm- j portnnce of tills Is great, because only high grade, perfect fruit will bring the high prices which the growers are seeking. |
