Show CLUB WOMEN MEET AI MTJLEASANT Mrs. A. J. Ashman of Richfield was elected president of the Sanpete Sevier district federation of Women Clubs at the annual convention In Mt. Pleasant Saturday. Presidents of all the federated clubs in the distinct dis-tinct will constitute the executive boaid and the selection of other officers will be announced at a latei date. One new claib. "The Home Study Club" of Richfield was admitted admit-ted to the federation. The convention opened at ten o'clock Saturday morning in the First Presbyterian Church with more than two hundred and fifty club women in attendance. Mrs. George G. Madsen welcomed the assemblage and community com-munity singing was directed by Mrs. Stanley II. Gill. All the clubs In the district contributed to the day's program pro-gram of music, songs, speeches and short talks. The main addresses were delivered by Mrs. C. S. Maw of Provo. president of the U. P. W. C. and Mrs. H. C. Jacobs, chairman of the line arts section of the U. F. W. C. At noon a banquet was served in the church dining hall in honor of the visitors. The hostess included the members of the Twentieth Cen-;lury, Cen-;lury, Home Culture, the O. S. A. the Business and Professional Women, the Junior Literary and the Progressive Progres-sive Literary Cl'ulbs of Mt. Pleasant. A song festival was a unique feature of the luncheon hour. Mrs. Alice S. Woolley of Mantt. Miss Stena Scorup of Salina, Mrs. Martha Edler of Fountain Green and Mrs. Marie O. Benson of Ephraim, presentated the following resolutions which were adopted by the convention; conven-tion; "That this federation mako special study of state and rural problems pro-blems and make recommendations to our state legislators that will benefit to the irural school districts". "That we support the .movement fbegun by Miss Lucy Van Cott of tho Universiify -of Utah to build a stato dormitory at the university for girls. "That we adopt the slogan "A Better Utah" by the co-operation of the women's clubs of Sanpete and Sevier Counties." The next convention will be held in June 1 928, in Richfield. |
