Show Commencement at wasatch acadfmy ( v Rev. Harris Pillsbury of Salt Lake Jelivered the baccalaureate address ;o the graduating class of Wasatch icademy before a large congregation vjn the First Presbyterian Church 3unday evening. Led by the Rev HPiHsbury, Rev T. M. Kuesseff, and Superintendent W. K. Throndsen, jplass adviser, the class marched to Ijtheir seats in the church to the strains of the processional, "Love J Divine". Rev. Pillsbury taking as His text a line from Milton "Therf. is Nothing That Can Make Men Rich ar Strong Save That which they D:arry within them", preached an eloquent el-oquent sermon. Assisting in the jjjjervices were Rev. T. M. Keusseff ind Rev. N. E. Clemensen. k' Muisic included the following special numbers; Vocal duet, Miss Florence Phillips and Eric Clitheroe; vocal solo, Harold Johns of Salt Lake selection "Hark, Hark My Soul;' S student chior, and the recessional "How Firm a Foundation". Eric Clitheroe, president of the senior class, was elected president of Wasatch Academy Alumni association associa-tion at the annual alumni "banquet and re-union held Wednesday evening even-ing in the academy dining hall. Miss .i.Thelma Beaumann, '25, was elected ..vice-president and Miss Viola Phillips, Phil-lips, '2 5, was elected secretary and s treasurer. fe Mrs. Stanley H. Gill, '12, was : toasmistress and was in charge of the following program; School jvsong, "The Orange and Black;" dox-tology; dox-tology; invocation, Rev. E. J. Hanks of Pocatello; "Life is a Garden," , Mrs. O. F. Wall; vocal solo, Miss Thelma Beaumann '25; "Life is a . journey," Erice Clitheroe 'Z7; vio-lin vio-lin solo, Miss Charlotte Kern; "Life .is a task," F. J. Nielsen, '12; vocal solo, Mira. C. A. Hone, '18; "Life is a Mission," Mirs. August Villard, 02; "Life is a Challenge," Joseph A. , Poncel; song, Blest be the Tie. At the conclusion of the banquet and program, Mrs. Gill on behalf of J the alumni association presented J 10.00 to the fund being raised to J send the school's athletes, Nathan Long and Fred Deschner, who were high point men in the recent state track meet, and their coach, E. G. Brunger, to the national -track meet in Chicago in June. The almmnl association also presented a curtain for the stage in the assembly hall, and gifts wei'e presented to Mrs. Celestia Copeland and Miss Margr-ret Thompson for their work and labor for the alumni association. |
