Show Many Diseases of Fruit and Ornamental Trees That many diseases of fruit and ornamental or-namental trees pass the winter In cankers on the branches and that unless un-less these are removed and destroyed they become sources for the spread of the disease, is the conclusion of Ohio experiment station botanists who advocate ad-vocate close pruning of all dead branches and stubs so that healing will be rapid and complete. The diseased pruniogs must be burnt, for If left on the ground spores will develop and still further spread the disease. It Is usually best to remove trees which have become so badly Infested that It is impossible to check the progress prog-ress of the disease as they are unsightly un-sightly and serve to Infect neighboring neighbor-ing trees. Diseases and inner! pest are harbored har-bored in rubbish of various kinds which should not be allowed to accumulate accu-mulate for sanitary reasons as well as for the sake of appearance. |
