Tlie eij,'ht planes were saved through the efforts of the employes at the field, who, after seeing there was no ossible chance to extinguish the fire rushed into the flaming building and wheeled out the planes. Hoy Farrow, who lias charge of the motor shop at tlie field, was badly burned about the face and hands, while Nelvin W'ignall and Ferris Cooper, machanics, were both overcome over-come by smoke and gas fumes and were in an unconscious condition for a short time, due to their efforts in trying to save the hangar and the pianos. V. A. O'I.eary, manager of the field, directed the efforts of the men and assisted in the work. Tlie fire department, under the direction of Chief V. II. Uywater, responded to the call with two machines ma-chines and quantities of chemical. Little could be done towards saving tlie building on account of insufficient water. Only the flow from a small tap could be secured. The damage is said to total between be-tween $-10,000 and $50,000. The cost ' of the hangar is estimated at $19,000. Twelve overhauled motors, which are valued at $2000 each, or $24,000 were destroyed. The wing shed and storeroom store-room was valued at $1500. No valuation valua-tion has as yet been placed od the tools, two sets each of aileron, elevators, eleva-tors, and rudders. A tractor and a large boiler were al30 destroyed. The fire is said to have started in a small room where a heating stove Is kept. Farrow was the only one In the room at the time.
