Show BEET GROWERS MEET WITH FACTOR! Ill A meeting of the local beetgrowers was held Wednesday night la the City Hall under the auspices of the farm bureau with A. F. Reynolds presiding. N. G. Stringham, ' Orlando Or-lando Bradley, C. P. Burnham, and Grant Stringham of Moroni repre senting the Peoples Sugar Company, and Elmo Irons of Moroni, president of the beetgrowers district organization, organi-zation, were present and addressed the gathering of farmers urging an increased sugar beet acreage for the season. Mr. Reynolds said It was the proper thing to do, to grow as many beets as possible, as the contract con-tract was on a fifty-fifty basis. . The question of the location of two beet dumps was also discussed by both beetgrowers and factory representatives. All farmers interested inter-ested In these particular dumps were invited to meet with the factory people peo-ple on the grounds and talk over the problems. The factory men are anxious to eliminate unnecessary beet dumps thus cutting down cost of operation. and the beet growers want the lone hauls to the beet dumps illiminated as much as can consistently be done. Proposed Increase In Water. Next Wednesday a mas3 meeting will be held to hear reports of committees com-mittees on the Milburn reservoir. Farm bureau officials will be in charge and Surveyor John L. Bench of Fairview and representatives ot the Utah Construction Company will be speakers. All committees of Sanpete and Ju-ab Ju-ab who have been appointed to in. vestigate the Milburn Reservoir project pro-ject are requested to meet in the North Sanpete High School building at one p. m. February 27th. These committees should be ready to report on the following: 1. The number of acre-feet of water wa-ter wanted. 2. The place where the water is to (be delivered. 3. A feasible method of forming Irrigation districts in order to properly proper-ly distribute the water. ' A. H. Christensen of the Utah Construction Con-struction Co., and John L. Bench of Fairview, are expected to meet with the farmers, so the meeting should b'j an Interesting one. All people interested inter-ested in this project are urged to be ... at the meeting. |
