Show READY TO MAKE" A CLEAN SWEEP IN THE OLD TOWN The recently organized Civic League, of which Mrs. S. D. Lorigs-j Lorigs-j dorf is president,' met Tuesday even-, even-, iug in the high school auditorium w.ti (representatives present from the Relief Societies, the Twentieth iCc.itury Club, the Home Culture I Cleib, the O. S. A. Club, the Business 'and Professional Women's Club, the : Crochet Club, the Service Star Legion, Leg-ion, the Junior Literary Ohib, the .Woman's Missionary Society, the M. I R. C. Club and the Progressive Club, ' and a committee appointed by the city officials. The league's first civic project will' be a city clean-up campaign including in-cluding homes, premise's and streets. W. L. Madsen has been selected as captain of the 'Oity clean-up and the ! community will be divided into ten j districts, each district 'Ulnder a captain cap-tain and force of 'workers. The campaign cam-paign will 'bejrin April 11 and will continue to and include April 15, and I a move will be made to close all '.schools and business houses on the Mast day of the clean-up to permit ! evryone to belp make it a community project. Dr. P. L. Holman, city and j and county physician fwas (a atten-! atten-! dance at last nights meeting and in a brief address, outlined the importance impor-tance of the clean-up campaign. A committee consisting 'of Mrs. L. C. Rasnnussen, Mrs. O. F. Wall and Mrs. Hyrum Christensen was selected select-ed to confer with Sexton Mads Andersen, And-ersen, to co. operate in work at the city cemetery. Sextoa Andersen was complimented on the excellent improvements im-provements made at the cemetery duiring his term of office. The constitution and by-laws committee, com-mittee, viz, Mrs. George G. Madsen, Mrs. John Marx, Mrs. George A. Petersen, Mips. Arthur Rasmussen, I Mrs. H. G. Bricksen, Mr3. E. M. John-ston, John-ston, and Mrs. Dan Rasmussen presented pre-sented an outline of the constitution land by-laws, which will be adopted later. The program committee which includes in-cludes Mrs. T. M. Keusseff, Mirs. Hyrum Hy-rum Christensen, Mrs. William Hansen,, Han-sen,, Mrs. R. W. Candland, Mirs. Stanley Stan-ley H. Gill, and Miss Margairet Thompson, will plan for an entertain imemt to be given soon 'by the (best local lo-cal talent under the autsplces of the Civic League. The funds raised by this and slmlilair enteTtairuments will be used to further and help any oivlc project or undertaking sponsored by any local organization.' |
