Show KsriLiiir 11 in During the great war the American people were told that food would win the war; that ships and guns and airplanes would win the war. Now that the fighting is over, it has become increasingly evident that, essetial as these things were, THEY DID NOT WIN THE I WAR. It was the SPIHIT of the American people that WON THE J WAR. This spirit can possibly be defined by the words: Ideals I and Morale coupled with Leadership and Organization, together with the unquenchable fire of PATRIOTISM. The old appeal "Your Country Needs You" is just as necessary today as it was in the stirring days of '17 and '18. And your dollars are just as necessary, too. Not to buy powder and iguns and airplanes but for a purpose just as vital to stimulate and lubricate the wheels of commerce. The prosperity of a community or a nation depends upon the extent of its commercial activity. Times are hard because money is tight. Money is tight because we have been passing through a period of deflation. That period is now PAST, to a great extent and it is NOW time to think and act in terms of the future. Build that HOME you have been planning on for so long. Your advantage in being in possession of it is self-evident, but in addition to this, the building of it will give employment to a number of men, w.ho in turn will then have money to buy something of you, whether it be potatoes, professional services, or what not. This in turn will help you to pay for the home. Could the lesson be more clear. And it applies to your other NEEDS as well. Proseprity will follow just as sure as night follows day. There is no call for an ORGY of SPENDING. We have ailready passed through the results of such action. But we must resume buying for our NORMAL NEEDS if men are to continue to work and produce. |
