Show ASPARAGUS BEDS Have some asparagus next Sunday night for supper. Serve it on toast with melted butter, salt, and pepper, or as' a salad on crisp lettuce leaves. As you are smacking your lips over it resolve to have a bed of it in your garden if you have to use all the fertilizer fer-tilizer on your lot. Two-year old roots may be obtained obtain-ed form a seed house for 35 cents per dozen. Make the bed on the side of the garden where plowing will not distrub it. Mix the soil with well-rotted well-rotted manure and a httle salt, .dig a 6-8 inch trench, spread the roots over a mound In the bottom, and cover with 2 Inches soil. As the shoots show cover then again until the trench tren-ch Is covered over. Keep well water ed. Asparagus is especially welcome because it is so delightfully early, and It contains a growing principle, common to green vegetables and milk without which children do not thrive.
