Show FOREST NOTES Lamb prices continue to go up, the latest quotation being close to the 12 cent mark. Cattle feeders in the vicinity of Salina are offering i cents for cows and 6 cents for steers. They Plan on taking all stock that will be ready for market in sixty days-feeding. days-feeding. In other words, they will take beef animals that are not in: shape to go on the market at once in order to utilize the excellent fall pasturage in that locality. 'Most of the sheep are now off the Forest, due to the premature ( drying up of the range. The feed this year has gone nwtch faster than usual. The Forest Service had an exhibit at the Emery County Fair held at Castle Dale. It was located in the educational section and aroused considerable con-siderable interest. Mr. G. G. Anderson, Assistant in Personnel, with headquarters at Washington, D. C, spent two days on this Forest. Mr. Anderson's 'visit was to acquaint himself more fully with the methods of conducting conduct-ing office work in supervisor's offices. Mr. S. S. Stewart, Grazing Examiner Ex-aminer from the District office, will 'spend two weeks on the Manti In inspecting timber sales. There are i'now 148 commercial and S-22 timber sales in operation on the Forest. Ranger Williams of Emery spent two days in the office last week. Work is progressing on the wagon road bridge at the Cotton woods in Manti Canyon. The bridge will probably be completed this week. ; Our Forest Clerk, Miss Christen-'sen, Christen-'sen, spent last week inspecting the files and property at the Clay Springs. Bear Creek, and Upper Joe's Valley ranger stations. |
