Show SUSPENDS CLOSING GATEWAY. Action of Commerce Commission Pre. vents Change for Ninety Days. Washington. The interstate commerce com-merce commission Tuesday suspended suspend-ed from October 1, 1914, until January Janu-ary 29, 1915, the operation of a change in passenger tariff providing for an increase in fares from points on the Oregon Short Line via Salt Lake or Ogden and the Denver & 'Rio Grande railroad. By cancellation of this route as to traffic moving to Denver and point3 beyond Denver and In the opposite direction, present fares were not increased in-creased by the suspended order for passenger travel by way of the Union Pacific between Denver and its connection con-nection with the Oregon Short Line at Pocatello. The proposed closing of the Ogden gateway by the Union Pacific was protested by the Idaho and Colorado utility commissions and a resolution was introduced in the senate by Senator Sen-ator Thomas of Colorado calling for an investigation by the interstate commerce commission. |
