Show A BIT OF BASEBALL Iia eb-tll is bung talked in .sumo portions !' tl e county, although so iar Mt. Plea:-ant has done but little. i'1-e L.ame will be slow in beginning this year, but it is under way. Ml. Pleasant ought to get as ; ood a team in the field this jear as ary town in this section in which home players only are used. The boys who have been working through the beginners' stage for several years are nearly all here and are ready for good work at any time, whde in addition there are a ecu-pie ecu-pie of new men here permanently who bring good baseball records with them. An effort has been made to get things moving, but so far no interest has been manifest by the many who ought to see that the game goes, when the weather breaks it will probably be different. Manti claims it will have a team of imported men, this year the equal of that of last. That is doubt ful, and when the show down comes the town will find that last year's experience ex-perience was a dear one. Ephraim and Moroni are keeping quite so far, no ball talk having baen hoard from either. Fairviewisin full swing already. The management there like Mt. Pleasant, has wisely concluded that the importation system is not feasti-ble feasti-ble and has arranged for all home team. The organization is asfol'ow.- i T o no rrn. v Pfif V-n nrr- caifoto tit and treasure, Chas. Peacock; Arthur Peterson, catcher; Henery Brady, pitcher; H.mry Terry first base; E. A. Day, (Captain) second base; Tim Fowles, third base; Floyd Young, short stop; Myron Tucker, center field and Pat Young, right field. They played the Milburn team a very nice game for so early in the season, the score resulting 5 to 10 in fav si- of Fairview. Both teams had new uniforms, Fairview navy blue and Milburn red and the game was t a pretty one to watch. ! -the following note is from the S ilina Call: There is talk from some good sources of organizing a southern base ball League to take in the following towns: Mount Pleasant, Ephraim, Manti, Gunnison, Salina, Richfield, and Monore, Talk comes from Mr. Moar, the Kenial D. and R. G. Conductor. Con-ductor. He thinks that would be a line idea and the means of much sport. And so it would. Let some thing be done in the matter. |
