Show Use Garden Chemicals Carefully I hope this message is heard by everyone that uses spray chemicals. WHENEVER A person uses spray chemicals of any kind, please take time to read the directions on the label and follow the instructions to the letter. Do not deviate from the directions on the label. Do not take directions by word of mouth. MELVIN S. Burningham, USU Area Horticulturist says, each day during the summer we get calls that a neighbor or someone suggested that the garden or the fruit trees be sprayed with a certain chemical. Then after the garden gar-den is sprayed the person reads the label and it says "do not use on fruits or vegetables vege-tables which are going to be consumed." There is nothing that I can do in a magic way to eliminate the poison, nor will I be able to go against directions direc-tions on the label. BEFORE using any chemical be sure that the chemical is recommended for the particular plant and pest, and do not apply closer harvest har-vest than is recommended on the label. Some people figure that if a little chemical is good, more is better. This is seldom true, Mr. Burningham Bur-ningham concludes. |
