Show By V. SCOTT WHITTAKER Golf Pro High school age golfers will be interested to know that they will be playing fall golf this year instead of the regular spring schedule. THIS change was made for several reasons. It will fit in better with local golf course scheduling, and it also gives the players a chance to tune up their games throughout the simmer before having to face competition in the fall. Hopefully, the weather will also cooperate a little more in the fall than it did in the 1975 spring season. REGION II golf play, which includes Viewmont High School, Bountiful High and Woods Cross, begins Tuesday, Sept. 2. The region championship cham-pionship is tentatively set up for Oct. 22. Bountiful and Woods Cross will be playing their home matches at the new Bountiful City golf course while Viewmont View-mont and Davis High Schools will be playing their matches at the Davis County golf course. The other two high schools, Clearfield and Lay-ton, Lay-ton, will play their matches at Valley View golf course. BECAUSE the schedule will start right after the school year begins, those interested in playing high school team golf should contact their school's golf coach as soon as possible. The local high school coaches are Wayne 01-sen, 01-sen, Viewmont; Jerry Sanders, Bountiful; and Ray Schlupp, Woods Cross. The next Davis Park Men's Association tournament will be held Aug. 16 and will be a two-bracket tournament. Those members of the Men's Association interested in signing up should do so now. PIERRE'S annual match play Best Ball Tournament was completed and was won by several young Bountiful residents, George Rackham, Jr., and his partner, Joel Berger, who defeated Lester Perry and Clyde Fornelius. Apologies are extended for the poor condition of the road to Bountiful Golf Course. Bonneville Drive should be completed by next week and problems of getting in should be eliminated. One should also al-so note the addition of Alyce Sundquist to Bountiful Course's staff. BOUNTIFUL Springs will host a ladies' association |
