Show DROPS DEAD ON TRAIN. Ex-Senator Massey of Nevada Dies Suddenly While on Business Trip. Reno, Nev. Former United States Senator W. A. Massey of this city died Thursday while en route from Reno to Susanville, Cal., on legal business. busi-ness. His death is attributed to heart trouble. Mr. Massey served as United States senator from Nevada from July, 1912, to January 29. 1913, being appointed by Governor Oddie to fill the vacancy caused by the death of the late Senator Sena-tor George S. Nixon. He was a candidate can-didate of the Republican party for reelection re-election in November, 1912, when tho people voted for choice for the office, and was defeated by eighty-six votes. He had served as justice of the su preme court of Nevada from 1896 tc 1902, resigning to enter private practice. prac-tice. He was recognized as one of the leaders of the Nevada bar. |
