Show 217 Head of Sheep Killed By Dogs Vicious Pack of Canines Makes Raid on Various Flocksv During the Past Two Weeks. During the last twelve days there has been a big loss sustained sus-tained by the sheepmen of this city, all of which was caused by some worthless dogs that had nothing to do but roam about the fields and destroy the flocks of the farmers of the neighborhood. There were three dogs that did all the killing. They began their destructive work early last week by making a raid on the lambs of E. H. Poulson which were being fed near the foothills on Cedar Creek. They also circled around and visited the yards of John H. Seely, John K. Madsen, Parley Rosenlof and A. C. Madsen, before they were caught, destroying animals at each place. E. H. Poulsen lost 145 lambs which he was feeding for market, the value of which is estimated at $500; John H. Seely lost 38 head, valued at about $230; Parley Rosenlof lost 13 head, which were worth about $75; John K. Madsen lost 20 head of choice rams, worth about $350, and A. C. Madsen lost one, valued at about five dollars. The total loss amounting to $1160. Fortunately, Parley Rosenlof discovered the dogs and stopped them from their destructive work just as they had begun be-gun on the flock of A. C. Madsen. Mr. Madsen immediately took up the chase and two of the dogs were killed. The owner of the third dog promised to put it out of the way. People who own dogs in the neighborhood should bear in mind that it would be well to see that this kind of work is stopped at once. No dogs can be trusted when they once get started to roaming about in numbers. |
