Show IRISH RESPOND TO THE GALLTO ARMS NATIONALISTS AND ORANGEMEN JOIN THE COLORS IN ALL PARTS OF EMPIRE. Redmond, Making Recruiting Speeches at Wexford, Sunday, Eloquently Appealed Ap-pealed for a Reconciliation on the Home Rule Question. Dublin. The number of recruits for the British army obtained in Ireland amounts to about 2.6,000. More than 8,000 of these are from the Dublin district, dis-trict, 4.000 from Cork district and the remainder from Belfast. Not all the Belfast recruits are Unionists nor are all the southern recruits re-cruits Nationalists. The Belfast Nationalists Na-tionalists claim to have furnished 6,000 of the Belfast recruits, which number relative to their total population popula-tion is larger than the proportion supplied sup-plied by the Unionists. Many of the southern recruits belong be-long to football and athletic club classes. There is not such a rush to join the colors from the agricultural districts as was anticipated, as there is a lack of men of available age. Emigration has left Ireland with a much greater proportion of the old and very young than there is in England, while she already has a much larget proportion of men in the army than has England. Similar reports come from South Wales, Bristol and the west. The figures fig-ures regarding the Irish enlistment have been compiled by the Nationalist National-ist party organizers in the various districts. |
