Show Stalin's Position The contents of the President's letter to Premier Stalin, and the reply of the Russian dictator, continue to intrigue the news experts, ex-perts, with some of them asserting assert-ing that Mr. Stalin has accpeted an invitation to meet the President Presi-dent but without naming a time or suggesting a place for such a conference. With this start the boys who "make public opinion" get off to a flying start, asserting that Stalin is dissatisfied with what is taking place and extremely anxious to avoid a showdown on what Russia plans to do in regards re-gards to Japan. These deductions may, or may not, be true. They are relatively unimportant if one understands that our assistance to Russia has been given strictly in our own interest, in order to keep the Red Army fighting the Nazis, and that the Slavs are under no obligation, legal or moral, to make war on anybody in our behalf. |
