Show f MORONI ! By Special Correspondence Miss Dorothy and Miss Dixie McKinny and Paul Read are spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. John Olson and other relatives here. A farewell dance, under direction direc-tion of Mayor Fenton Draper, was given last Saturday evening at Joyland in honor of six more of Moroni's young men, some of whom have already left and others who are leaving for the U. S. Service in the near future. They are as follows: Fred Guy-mon, Guy-mon, Morris Sorenson, Royal Bag-ley, Bag-ley, Wayne Draper, Joseph Gee, and Pherris Neilson. They were each presented with a leather wallet containing $5.00 as a token of appreciation from the people of Moroni. Mrs. Anthony Christensen is at the Dice hospital where she was operated on last Saturday for appendicitis. She is reported to be improving nicely at this time. Mr. and Mrs. Heber Christensen Christen-sen returned home from Salt Lake City on Tuesday after spending two days with relatives there and to be present at the train on Monday evening to see their son, Paul off for the Service Ser-vice of our country. He left for Shepherd Field, Texas to begin his training at that field. Otis Bradley returned home after a few weeks visit with relatives rel-atives in Provo and Nevada. Mr. and Mrs. Urwin Morley are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby boy born on July 8th. Mother and baby are at the Dice hospital. Mrs. James Everett and daughter, daugh-ter, Shirley returned home this week after spending the past two motnhs with relatives in Al-hambra, Al-hambra, Calif., and Las Vegas, Nevada. She was accompanied home by Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Johnson with their sons, Kenneth and Ralph, who returned to Las Vega after a two days' visit here. Mrs. Thora Henroid received word that her son, Donnald Henroid, Hen-roid, has been honorably discharged dis-charged from the U. S. Service, due to illness which has been contracted since entering the Army. He is recuperating at a hospital in Fort Knox, Kentucky, and will return home as soon as possible. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Allen have been visiting their daughter, Mrs. George Anderson during the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Don Hardy are the proud parents of a baby girl born on July 12th at the Dice hospial. The mother was formerly former-ly Miss Valeeta Cloward of Moroni. Mo-roni. The Junior Sorosis club met last Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Marvin Draper where the time was spent in quilting, after which a delicious luncheon was served. Grant Olson, who is home on a furlough, was invited to be one of the speakers at both the West ward Sacarament meeting at 11:30 last Sunday and the East ward at 2 p. m. He gave some very interesting experiences in regard to the war. The other speakers were Pres. Der Monte Madsen and Elder James Fech-ser. Fech-ser. Relief Society Reorganized A meeting of the new Moroni Stake Relief Society Board was held at the home of Anna Robertson Robert-son last Tuesday night. Plans for activities ana work for the ensuing year were discussed. President Der Monte Madsen and George M. Anderson of the Stake Presidency were present and set apart the new officers as follows: Anna Robertson as preseident of the Moroni Stake Relief Society; Reba Anderson as first counselor and Twyla Madsen as second counselor, with Afton Anderson as secretary and treasurer; U-tahna U-tahna Bagnall as organist and the social service leader; Venice Ven-ice F. Anderson as theology and teacher topic leader; Isabelle Kellett as literary leader and chorister. Refreshments were served and a very fine spirit enjoyed by all present. |
