Show Here Is How Cancer Fund Divided Up Funds obtained during the 1949 fund drive of the Utah Division Di-vision of the American Cancer Society, will be divided among three distinct services, according to Mrs. G. B. Madsen, local campaign cam-paign captain. They are medical services, public education and cancer research. In the case of the first two services, both are rendered by the Society directly to the people peo-ple of Utah, Mrs. Madsen said. Research funds are spent under the supervision of the Nation's leading scientists and medical researchers in 250 research projects pro-jects under way in the nation's greatest medical, educational and scientific institutions. Since large grants are made by the society for research at the University Uni-versity of Utah, actually more money is spent each year in Utah ..in the fight on cancer, than is raised in the annual cancer drive. Under medical services to detect de-tect cancer and help needy cases, according to Mrs. Madsen, are included free cancer detection detec-tion centers, limited monetary assistance to needy patients, free dressings for cancer patients pa-tients at homes and hospitals, a charity hospital bed, loan of sickroom supplies and assistance assist-ance in the rehabilitation of can-cer can-cer patients.
