Show Pkns Approve Reservoir On Millers Flat Creek Plans and specifications for a! 'reservoir on Millers Flat Creek: 'n Emery county were approved ; Monday by State Engineer T. H. ! j Humpherys. I The plans, submitted for approval ap-proval by the Huntington-Cleve- land Irrigation Company and shned bv N. C. Oveson, president, 'call for an earth fill dam 138 feet high with firm storage capacity for 13,309 acre feet of water. It is proposed to construct the reservoir across Millers Flat creek about 26 miles northwest of Huntington, the stored water to be used in the vicinity of Huntington. Millers Flat Creek is ' a tributary to the west fork of Huntington creek. - Plans and estimates for a reservoir reser-voir located slightly above the present proposed location for a dam 148 feet high were made by the state engineer. At this site Mr. Humpherys estimated the 'project would cost $678,136 or $38. per acre foot of storage, this figure exclusive of right of way costs. The present proposed site was changed from that proposed by the state engineer following foundation foun-dation explorations made by the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation. Under the plans 260 acres of ground would be inundated by the project. Right of way for part of this land will likely require condemnation" proceedings, Mr. Humpherys said. According to water measurements measure-ments taken by the state engineer the reservoir, had it been constructed, con-structed, would have filled to a capacity of 3600 acre feet in 1939 and 4000 acre feet in 1940. |
