Show ! MORONI 1 By Special Correspondence I Our entire community was sadly shocked to learn of the death of Alton Bradley last Monday evening at the home of his sister, Mrs. Louella Bradley Draper. He and his family reside re-side in Hollywood, California, but his health had been very bad in recent weeks, so he had a desire to come home and visit with relatives and friends in the hopes of improving his health. He arrived in Moroni on the bus Sunday evening, and had been at the home of his sister sis-ter but a short time when he became so ill that medical assistance as-sistance was summoned and his condition was considered critical. criti-cal. He was given a blood transfusion Monday morning and Dr. McAfee was on his way to give him another transfusion in the late afternoon when word came that Mr. Bradley had passed pass-ed away. A telegram was sent immediately immedi-ately to his wife in California, who arrived in Moroni Tuesday evening. He was born September 6, 1904 in Moroni, a son of George H. and Eliza Harvey Bradley. He married Muriel Opal Moore, November No-vember 10, 1933, at Las Vegas, Nevada, and they have resided in Hollywood for several years. Surviving are his widow, a daughter Norma, both of Hollywood; Holly-wood; sister, Mrs. Draper, Moroni; Mo-roni; and the following brothers.. Burton Bradley, Logan; Emerson Emer-son and Martin Bradley, Salt Lake; George H. Bradley, Sandy. Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted Friday at 1:30 p. m. in the Moroni West ward chapel by James Prestwich, uishop. Mrs. Irwin Morley entertained the members of the Junior Soro-sis Soro-sis club at her home last Wednesday Wed-nesday evening. A most interesting inter-esting talk was given by Mrs. Mack Brown of Mt. Pleasant, who is a recent war bride from Ireland. She gave a talk on Ireland and had many beautiful pieces of Irish linen to display to the group and also told of many experiences concerning her joining the Mormon Church, of how she came to America and of meeting the G. I. whom she later married, as well as many other events which were enjoyed enjoy-ed greatly by all present. A most delicious hot dinner was then served to Mrs. Browi and Mrs. Ray Seely of Mt. Pleasant; Pleas-ant; Mrs. Earl Tidwell, Mrs. James Anderson, Mrs. John Guy-mon, Guy-mon, Mrs. Milton Arnoldsen, Mrs. Morgan Lamb, Mrs. Lawrence Law-rence Kelson, Mrs. Earl Black-ham, Black-ham, Mrs. Joseph Revill, Mrs. Harold Christensen, Mrs. George Faux, Mrs. Gaynor Sorensen and Mrs. Joseph Bulow. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Allred of Fountain Green are the proud parents of a baby girl born at the Dice hospital on February 6. The Sr. Sorosis club members and husbands were entertained last Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Airs. Elmo Irons. The hostesses were Mrs. Irons, Mrs. Blain Draper, Mrs. Joseph Prestwich, Mrs. Gene Des-pain, Des-pain, where a most delicious hot dinner was served. The evening eve-ning was concluded by playing Rook whore high score was won by Roy Story and Mrs. Blanche Sorenson. Consolation prizes were won by Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Blackham. Mrs. Cleon Anderson left Friday Fri-day for Salt Lak, and then went by plane to Los Angeles to spend two weeks with relatives there. Mrs. Rulon Johnson entertained last Monday in honor of the fifth birthday of her daughter Elaine. Games were played and delicious refreshments served to ten of her little rriends. A number of Moroni people attended the shower at Fountain Green last Saturday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Glade Anderson. Donnell Blackham was pleasantly pleas-antly surprised last Sunday evening eve-ning at his home by 20 of his friends in honor of his 17th birthday anniversary. The time was spent in games and viewing of motion pictures, after which a delicious luncheon was served. The speakers at the West ward Sacrament meeting last Sunday were Bishop Morgan Lamb and John K. Guymon of the East ward. The program was given by the East ward Boy Scout organization or-ganization under direction of Urwin Morley. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Blackham have returned home after enjoying enjoy-ing a most delightful visit with their children, Mr. and Mrs. Bard Blackham at Portales, New Mexico. Joseph S. Cloward is visiting in San Francisco with his daughter, Mrs. Relda Justesen and family, and with his son Reg, who is in the Army and stationed near San Francisco. Oliver Cloward and his son Bradley Cloward of Vernal spent part of the week visiting with relatives and friends here and in Manti. This is Oliver Clow-ard's Clow-ard's first visit to his home town in 27 years. Mr. and Mrs. John Bernstein and children of Vernal spent last weekend with Mrs. Lillian Sorenson and family. Mrs. Monte Rasmussen of Provo Pro-vo visited last weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russel Bailey. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Blackham and daughter Deborah are enjoying en-joying a ten day trip to California. Cali-fornia. Duane Tidwell of the U. S. Army Ar-my returned home last Friday after spending eleven months in the U. S. service, the past four months of which he was in Japan. Ja-pan. He has now received his honorable discharge and is happy hap-py to be at home again and see his baby for the first time. He and his wife, formerly Miss Ar-dys Ar-dys Blackham, and baby will make their home in Nephi. |
