Show SPRING CITY By Special Correspondence I Funeral Held For E. A. Billington Funeral services were held Sat-urady Sat-urady afternoon in the ward chapel with Floyd Draper of the ward Bishopric in charge, for zekial Billington, 88. Music was furnished by the ward choir, directed by Mrs. Rose Schofield. The opening song, "Oh My Father." The invocation was offered by John T. Blain. Song. "Rest, Rest For The Weary, Rest." William H. Peterson spoke of the help Mr. Peterson gave others in finances, also that he was an industrious man. He also spoke of the care given him by mvs. Billington. A vocal solo, "There's a Beautiful Land On High," was sung by Drs. Edith Martin of Salt Lake City. F. C. Sorensen spoke of the friendship he enjoyed with the deceased, also of the interest in : o churchc and observance of ' the Commandments of God which , Mr. Billington had in later years. A vocal duet was given by Mrs. Lola Peterson and Mrs. Martin ot Salt Lake City. Le Grande Backman, recently President of the South African mission spoke of his love for his aunt, Mrs. Billington, and fond memories he had of this city, when as a lad, he visited here. Pres. Backman served almost 6 years in Africa. He bore his testimony and said the deceased had gone on to the Eternities to receive the blessings God has there for him. A vocal solo was given by Mrs. Lola Peterson of Salt Lake City. Remarks were made by Floyd Draper and the choir sang, "Rock of Ages." The closing prayer was given by Bp. Martin of Salt Lake City. Interment was in the City cemetery cem-etery and burial was under the direction of the Jacobs Mortuary. Joseph Schofield has returned home after spending some time in Rupert, Idaho visiting with his sons and their families. Mrs. Evon Christensen and family and her brother's little girl, Loraine Bemer of Idaho are visiting with her mother, Mrs. Olive Christensen of Spring City. She also visited her sister, Mrs. Wm. Andersoen and family of Chester. On their way home they plan. to visit her sister, Mrs. Ruth Black and family of Ferron, Utah. The Lark Group of the Primary Association entertained their mothers at a quilting party Tuesday Tues-day afternoon, under the direction direc-tion of Mrs. Libbie Allred and Mrs. Ada Ellis. Stake Primary President.Mr. Elya Allred was a special guest. ' " Mr. and Mrs. Virgus Osborne, Miss Manett Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Reid H. Allred visited Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Allred at Manti to see Donald Allred of the Army Air Corps. He is home on furlough from Las Vegas, Nevada, but will go to Tampa, Florida to resume his training. Mrs. Ethelyn Anderson is in San Francisco visiting her son in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ethel Glanz. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Peterson announce the birth of a baby daughter, born Tuesday afternoon. after-noon. Mrs. Charles Clark and children spent the past week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Delone Carlsen and Mr. and Mrs. Max Blain. The Clarks live at Park City. Mrs. Ila Williams and children are visiting at the home of Mr. j Lester Acord. The Wiliams livei at Salt Lake City. Russell Aiken, SC2, stationed at San Diego, California spent his furlough the past week with his parents, friends and relatives. Russell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vero Aiken, and has been in the, Navy since May. He was Senior, Class President of North Sanpete High School the past winter. I Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jensen andj son, David returned home Sun-'. day from Great Falls, Montana, where Mr. Jensen has been em-ployed. em-ployed. En route home they spent several days in Yellowstone National Park. I Mrs. Fred A. Clark and children accompanied her parents home from Park City for a short visit. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Swenson of Eagle Rock, California announce the birth of a baby boy. The mother was formerly Miss Cleone Allred, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ros Allred of this city. Miss Verna Allred, employed at Salt Lake City, spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Allred. Miss Ludean Madsen. daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Mad-sen, Mad-sen, is a visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Van Cott at Cedar City, Utah. Mrs. Odell Blain and children have returned home alter spena-ing spena-ing several weeks in Salt Lake City visiting relatives. I Sgt. Fred L. Allred is home on furlough visiting his mother, Mrs. Myrtle Allred and other relatives. Sgt. Allred is serving as a Cryptographer Cryp-tographer in th Armed Forces. This is first visit home since joining join-ing the service two years ago. The past year has been spent in British Guinea. He recently was stationed at Miami, Florida. Mrs. Allred has another son, Dean sta-! tioned in Texas. i |
