Show i FAIRVIEW I By Special Correspondence 1 Fifty years of wedded life were celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Peterson Saturday evening, September Sep-tember 3, when a reception was held in the Fairview North ward chapel at 8 o'clock in their honor. More than two hundred people attended the reception where a splendid program was given, after af-ter which the evening was spent in dancing. Refreshments were served to all present. Mr. and Mrs. Peterson were married September 3, 1894 in Fairview and a-, few years later they were married in the Manti Temple. Mr. Peterson was born in South Cottonwood, Salt Lake county, January 5, 1873, a son of James C. and Sarah Ann Brown Peterson. Rill Brady Peterson was born in Fairview May 6, 1877, a daughter of Warren P. and Rachael Cox Brady. They were the parents of six children, four of whom are living, Mrs. Sarah Johnson of Payson, Utah; Stanley Peterson, Spanish Fork, Utah; Golden Peter son, Fairview and Mrs. Hazel Schofield, Hagna, Utah. They also have 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. All members mem-bers of the family were present, but one. The out of town guests, who come to attend the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. George W. Tucker, Mrs. Cynitha Holliman, Mrs. Alice Young and Miss Ruth Young of Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shepherd, Mr. and Mrs. Max Shepherd, Spanish , Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Poulsen, Ephraim; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shepherd, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Shepherd, Mt. Pleasant and Mr. and Mrs. Mack McKean, Birds-eye, Birds-eye, Utah. Mr. Grant Robert of Fairview, but who is now stationed in England, Eng-land, has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Fowles of Fairview. His wife, Mrs. Martha Mar-tha Garret Fowles, resides in Salt Lake City. Lt. Fowles has been in the Service overseas since December, 1943. He was graduated gradu-ated from North Sanpete High School and University of Utah, Cambridge and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston, Mass. He enlisted in May, 1942 and has been serving in the Southwest Pacific. Mrs. Odessa Young entertained at a birthday party Sunday afternoon after-noon in honor of her little daughter, daugh-ter, Darla's sixth birthday anniversary. anni-versary. Games were played and refreshments were served to all present. Mrrand Mrs. Duane Jensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Jensen, is home on furlough from the Air Training School at Bozeman, Montana. He will return soon to his post of duty in Montana. Miss Loye Tucker has returned home after spending the past 4 months in Ogden, Utah where she has had employement for the past summer. Miss Faun Christensen, who is employed at the Naval Depot in Clearfield, Utah, visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Afton Christensen Chris-tensen at Fairview last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Graham and baby daughter of Salt Lake City were visitors at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Graham last week end. Private Jack Anderson of the U S. Army has been enjoying a 15-day furlough at home visiting with his mother, Mrs. Sceverenia Anderson. He has been stationed at Camp Roberts, California, but he will report back to Arkansas. Miss Peggy Stewart -and Miss Blanche Jensen of Salt Lake City were visitors in Fairview last Sunday visiting with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Kay Mower and family of Ogden, Utah were visitors visi-tors at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Mower this week. . Miss Joyce Rasmussen ot Spanish Fork is visiting with relatives and friends in Fairview. Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Jensen entertained en-tertained at a delicious hot din-npr din-npr at their home Monday in honor of their wedding anniversary anniver-sary and in honor of their son, Private Duane Jensen's 18th birthday aniversary, who is home on furlough which both fell on the same day. There were 18 relatives and friends present. Mr and Mrs. Rueben White and granddaughter Donna Lee Menzie of Clear Creek, Utah were visitors in Fairview last Sunday and Monday. Miss Darren Brady, who is a Junior Cadet Nurse at the Salt Lake General Hospital where she is in training, spent a few days in Fairview this week visiting with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peterson left Wednesday morning for Magna Mag-na Utah, where they will visit with relatives. They will also visit at Payson, Spanish Fork with relatives before returning home. . Mr. and Mrs. Glen Vance and family have moved back to Fair-view Fair-view after spending the past year living at Sunnydale, Utah where Mr Vance has had employment. Sir. and Mrs. Aaron Shepherd and family in Fairview last week e"Mr. and Mrs. Howard W. Rigby, Keith Rigby, Mrs. Glenda Staker and two children and Mrs. Opal Abbott spent last week visiting with their daughter and sister, Mrs. Faye Lay at Circileville. They also visited at Bryce Canyon Can-yon on their trip. |
