Show ''nnno Citv Students Dance To Swell Ward Building Fund The annual meeting of the Spring City and Chester Cattle-mens Cattle-mens Association of the Manti National Forest was held in the City Hall February 9th for the purpose of hearing the annual reports of the association for the year 1950, and election of officers offi-cers for the year 1950. The following officers were elected: Vivian Larsen, president; presi-dent; Royal Allred, vice president; presi-dent; Henry Blain, secretary and treasurer with Rawlin Bagnall, James R. Watson and Cyrus E. Allred as advisory board members. mem-bers. Also present at the meeting were Forest Supervisor Robert H. Park, Assistant Supervisor Jay Sevey, and Forest Ranger Ivan Dyreng of the Manti National Forest. Rawlin Bagnall of the above named Association was elected as a representative of the Master State Stockmens Association As-sociation of Manti National Forest, For-est, to represent the asociation at a m'eeting to be called later by the forest supervisor. Also present at the meeting were several permittees of the Wool Growers Association of Manti National Forest. Considerable Consid-erable time was spent by the permittees of both the cattlemen and sheepmen and Forest officials, offi-cials, relative to the burning of the underbrush and reseeding of range, also the development of water projects on this area. They aiso discussed the -date that permitted stock should enter the Forest in this area. Funeral services of Peter Sor-ensen Sor-ensen held Wednesday afternoon were well attended. Bishop Reid H. Allred presided. Prayers were by Vivian Larsen and Ernest Justensen. The ward choir conducted by Mrs. Elizabeth Eliza-beth Anderson sang "Beautiful Hom'e" and "Lead Me Gently Home, Father". "Regardless of his suffering Mr. Sorensen has been cheerful. Anyone in his company would always like him; he had the quality of making friends. He .was honest, kind, "good natured and friendly. The family can-:not can-:not help but be proud of their relationship with him, and they have been proud of the accomplishments accomp-lishments of each other. He , has been faithful and lived a j religious life and was self educated edu-cated and self made." A trib-jute trib-jute was read, written by a sis-iter-in-law, Mrs. Vera Sorensen. I Carrying the beautiful floral ; offerings were men friends of jthe deceased. Caring for the flowers at the chapel were Mrs. Ada Ellis, Mrs. Vanda Petersen jand Mrs. Adelaide Thompsen. Interment in the city cemetery was under the direction of the Ursenbach Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant. The grave was dedicated dedi-cated by William Baxter. Grandsons Grand-sons acted as pall bearers at the services. Many friends and relative? from other cities attended the services. The elderly people of this city, also widows, widowers, shutins as guests, again made the annual "Old Peoples" party a hug's success. This event is anticipated by many for veeks ahead. Mrs. George Allred received word Sunday that her sister, Mrs. Ross Allred of this city, is very ill in a Salt Lake hospital. She has been in Salt Lake city for some -months for her health. The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terrance Aiken of Blackfoot, Idaho, formerly of Spring City, was brought to this city Wednesday for burial in the city cemetery. The baby was born Tuesday at Blackfoot and died a few hours after birth. She is survived sur-vived by her parents, Terrance and Crystal Johansen Aiken and seven brothers and sisters. s The students of the Fifth and Sixth grades entertained 70 parents, faculty members and guests at a Valentine party at the school auditorium. The following students presented pre-sented a one act play in two scenes, "Be My Valentine": Ven-ita Ven-ita Petersen, Rochelle Sorensen Dan Sorensen, Perry Dye, R. D Strate, Janele Blain, Mary Sor ensen, Gordon Madsen, Carolyn Blain, Eddie Pedersen, Rosalie Schofield, Waide Schofield, Kent Strate, Betty Bertlesen, Irene Thompsen and Barney Erickson. Colleen Clark was the announcer announc-er with Dixie Mickel as the stage manager. The boys and girls prepared homemade ice cream and other goodies for the refreshments. The teacher, Mrs. Eva Erickson assisted as-sisted the students with the party and play. Superintendent Rudolph Hope was in charge of the annual Valentine Val-entine dance Tor the Sunday School students of the ward held Tuesday evening in the ward chapel. Home made candy was sold with other goodies as special spec-ial attractions. Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Jensen visited vis-ited in St. George the past week. Theron Draper is home after serving over a year in the Army. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Draper. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Larson Lar-son and boys, David and Larry, visited in this city Thursday evening with relatives. The Primary study m'eeting was held Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Athene Osborne. Os-borne. Conference plans were discussed and Mrs. LoRee Hickman Hick-man conducted the song practice. prac-tice. A special tribute and lovely gift was presented to Mrs Edith Sorensen who has given nearly 21 years of continuous service to the Primary as secretary. secre-tary. Tributes were paid by Mrs. Ada Ellis, Mrs. Eva Erickson and Mrs. Libbie Allred. Following Follow-ing the meeting a social hour was spent with Mrs. Osborne serving Valentine refreshments and an hour was spent in playing play-ing progressive rook with Mrs. Hazel Black, Mrs. Mamie Allred and Mrs. Hilda Jensen as score winners. |
