Show "rrnn Citv Barney Youth To Mexican Mission William Clive Barnev Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William Clive Barney of Alhambra, Calif., formerly of this city, left for the Mexican Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Lat ter Day Saints with headquarters headquar-ters in Mexico City, Dec. 14. Clive is well known in this city where he has spent many vacations. He is a former B Y. U. student. He was tendered a farewell testimonial at the Alhambra ward chapel November 16, at which Bishop Willard H. Clarke, Roy Spiers, Mr. and Mrs. Barney and the missionary mission-ary were the speakers. Impressive funeral services were held in the ward chapel, Wednesday afternoon for Ed-munt Ed-munt James Edmunds, 70, who died at his home Sunday morning morn-ing following an illness of some time. Bishop Reid H. Allred conducted con-ducted the services. Prayers were by Rudolph Hope and Floyd Draper. The ward choir conducted by Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson sang two numbers. A vocal duet, "Whispering Hope" was siing by Mrs. Olga Black and Mrs. Vilate Hope, accompa nied by Mrs. Mauriel Nunley. "Face To Face", a vocal duet was sung by Mr. and Mrs. Deliel Christensen. accompanied by Mrs. Jane Thomas, Wales. Speakers, Bishon Lloyd Price of Wales and Bishop Allred spoke of the fine work don.; by Mr. Edmunds, his love for his family and friends and of his industrious work. The Elders ruiorum of which he was a member, carried the floral of- j ferings from the chapel. In I termtnt in the city cemetery I was under the direction of the Ursenbach Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, with Christian Sorensen dedicating the grave. Many relatives and fri.nds of the deceased from other communities com-munities attended the .services. The Ward MIA will hold a festival entertainment Tuesday evening at the ward re.'.i-eation hall. A one act play "Und'T Hie Spreading Christmas Tree" will b: presented. Mrs. Elva Allred, drama director, di-rector, will direct the fo lov.ing cast: Lois Beck, Lenore Allred Ruth Ellis, Mehl Rcc Draper Carol Terry, Donna Bunnell and Noreen Acord. Program numbers will he under the direction of K. B. Terry. Miss Lona G'.:-.cn and Mrs. Ireta Strain. The dancing will he directed by Mrs. Leona Terry and Mrs. LoP.ee Hi'krnan. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Reid Black and baby of Richfield visited Sunday with their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Angus Black. After their visit here they will visit in Las Vegas, Nev. for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Virgus Osborne, Leo Osborne and Mrs. Reid H. Allred visited in Salt Lake city and Provo Friday and Saturday. - Mrs. Olive Coleman visited in Salt Lake city the past week. While there she attended the birthday of her sister, Mrs. Dora Worthen. Mr. and Mrs. William Soren-sf.n. Soren-sf.n. .A .IP.-y.P3. .?nd. Ylat.c.'l "'ill. spend the winter months at l.heir home here. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Hansen Han-sen spent several days last week in Idaho visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schofield and daughter Rosalie visited in Salt Lake city Thursday. The ward Primary study and preparation meeting for December Decem-ber was held Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Bernice Hansen. The president, Mrs. Libbie Alired presided. The December teacher training, lesson was presented pre-sented by Mrs. Helen Madsen. Plans were discussed for the Christmas class parties to be held Tuesday next in the individual indi-vidual classes. An hour of playing progressive progres-sive rook followed the meeting. |
