Show I ! MORONI I By Special Correspendonce Pfe. Van Livingston and Bruce Irons have received honorable discharges from the U. S. Army at the Fort Douglas Separation Center last week and are happy to be welcomed home again by their many friends and relatives at Moroni. Mrs. Ida Dice announces safe arrival of her first grand chilr, a granson, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thompson at Palo Alto, California on May 16. The mother was formerly Miss Dorothy Dice of Moroni. Mrs. I Dice left for California on May 10th and is there now enjoying a visite with them, as weli as visiting vis-iting other relatives in California. Mr. Carlyle Wilson of Salt Lake City spent last week end with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph N. Revill at Moroni. A large number of Moroni people peo-ple attended the celebration last Friday in Jerusalem because of the final connecting up of lectric power and light service in their homes there. It was a time of rejoicing in every home now to have, that most needed necessity, which they have looked forward to for so many years. Everyone present reported having had a most enjoyable time. Mr. and Mrs. Lenard Syme are rejoicing over the safe arrival of a baby boy on May 17th. The mother was formerly Miss Ber-della Ber-della Morley. Mrs. Mary C. Blackham entertained enter-tained the Sew Art club members and their husbands at a home warming party last Tuesday night. She has had her home all remodeled and made many nice improvements, and has just got it completed. A very delicious delici-ous hot dinner was served, after which the time was spent in playing rook. Mr. and Mrs. Spaford Sumsion spent last week end in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Reese Bradley spent last .week end in' Ogden and American Ameri-can Fork visiting her son and duaghter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Victor L. Bradley and other relatives. rela-tives. The graduation exercises of Moroni high schoil were held last Thursday evening in the West ward chapel, under the direction of Principal Spafford Sumsion. This is the 32nd graduation event of the high school during which time there has been 1500 students stu-dents receive their diplomas, and we all have reason to be proud of this institution and the splendid splen-did work which has been accomplished ac-complished in the institution. Tidwell and Lu-la Lu-la Thomas. Mrs. Myrtle Hutchison and I. U. Storey of Salt Lake City came to Moroni last Thursday to attend at-tend the graduation exercises for their niece, Miss Darlene Storey. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jones of Pocatello, Idaho visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Storey and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bailey last week end. Mrs. Perry Blackham returned home this week after having visited for a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Newell Olson and family fam-ily in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Don Rosenlund and family of Fairview visited Tuesday with relatives here. Two weeks ago Moroni Ward ward organized a ward choir under direction of Mrs. Isabelle Kellet and they are meeting with great success thus far and are earnestly askin g for loyal support sup-port in this most worthy undertaking. under-taking. Everyone is invited to come and join the ranks and spend one . hour each Tuesday evening at 8:30 o'clock, to not only develop their own talent of singing, but accomplish much good also for our ward as well , Archie Christensen went to Salt Lake City Wednesday to visit his mother, Mrs. Cenus I Christensen, who had an eye , operation this week at a hospital t there. Her many friends and ! relatives here wish her a speedy i and complete recovery. Mrs. Loris Blackham and her j daughter, Mrs. Ardys Tidwell were Salt Lake City visitors this week. The Jr. Sorosis club members were entertained last Wednesday Wednes-day evening at the home of Mrs. Twila Madsen where the time was spent in sewing, after which a delicious lunch was enjoyed by all. The Moroni East and West ward Primary association planned plan-ned their annual May Day celebration cele-bration for last Friday May 17th, which was a grand success. They first met at the West ward chapel where a splenuia program v. as rendered, after which the children chil-dren all marched in a parade to the Old Bungalow where they enioved dancing. The weather was ideal for tne occasion which brought scores every child in the two wards of parents out and practically were on hand to celebrate the coming of spring. It was under direction of Mrs. Ivy Anderson and Mrs. Blanche Johnson, Presidents Presi-dents of the two organizations. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bradley of Salt Lake Citv, Mr. and Mrs. Max Bradley and children and Phil Bradlev of Benjamin and Miss Lola lieliss of Santaquin visited with Mr. and lire. A. L. Bradley on Sunday. Mrs. Clarence Oakey of Provo is convalescing now at the hospital hos-pital there since an operation, which was performed last Saturday. Satur-day. She is 'improving nicely at this time, according to word received by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Urvin Gee. Mr. and Mrs. J. Earl Peterson and young grandson of Berkeley, California were guests this week at the home of Cleon Anderson. Mr. Peterson and Mrs. Cleon Anderson are brother and sister. They returned to their home Monday by way of the Southern Utah Parks, Boulder Dam and Los Angeles, where they will visit friends and relatives. Miss Dora Larson, who is employed em-ployed at the Payless Drug Store in Salt Lake City, spent Mother's Day here. The Birthday "S" club was entertained en-tertained last Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Blackham. An interesting article was read by Mrs. R. L. Anderson and dinner din-ner was served at 5:30 p. m. A low bowl of pansies was the centerpiece for the beautifully laid table. Mrs. Donnell Henroid assisted her mother in serving. Mr. and Mrs. Urvin Gee spent last week in Provo at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rowley and family. i Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Irons and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bailey were at Salina Sunday afternoon where they were- in attendance at Memorial services held there for Lt. Robert Burgess, Pilot of a plane which crashed in Europe in the late war. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Burgess of Salina. Miss Louise Bailey visited in |
