Show I FAIRVIEW i By Special Correspondence I Funeral Held For Joseph Jensen Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon at 1 p. m. for Joseph Jensen in the Fairview North ward chapel with Bishop Loyal Graham of the Milburn ward conducting. The combined North and South ward choir sang, "Sometime We'll Understand," and Montie Jenkins offered the opening prayer. A duet, "Whispering "Whis-pering Hope," was sung by Mr. and Mrs. Golden Peterson, with Miss LeNila Young as accompanist. accom-panist. The speakers were Mr. ir'eter Sundwall, Allie L. Carlston, Alva Zabriskie and Bishop Loyal Graham, all of whom paid beautiful beau-tiful tributes to him as a devoted father. A vocal solo, "That Silver Sil-ver Haired Daddy of Mine," was sung by Frank Williams. A vocal solo, "In The Garden," was sung by Floyd Young, with Le Nila Young at the piano. The closing song, "In That Far Away Land," was sung by the choir and the closing prayer was offered by Maitland Graham. The grave in the City cemetery was dedicated dedi-cated by Amasa Terry. The many floral offerings and the large number of relatives and friends demonstrated the high esteem, love and respect in which Mr. Jensen and his family are held in the community. The following relatives and friends from out of town came to attend the funeral services of Joseph Jensen: Mrs. Orland Thorn and Miss La Rayn Thorn of Springville, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Williams of Mont-pelier, Mont-pelier, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Amos Kelsey of Shelley, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mower of American Fork, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Mower of Provo, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. Le Vern Miner, and Mrs. Cecilia Mower of Provo, Utah; Mrs. Vera Jones of Salt Lake City, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Vance, and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Vance of Price, Utah; Mrs. Cleon Peterson, Mrs. Fowlen Turner of Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs. Douglas Perry of Helper, TTt,ah; Mrs. Linda Shand of Manti, Utah;Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bills and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Anderson of Spring Canyon, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Anderson and daughter of Sun-nydale, Sun-nydale, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. John Zabriskie. Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Cox entertained enter-tained with a delicious hot turkey tur-key dinner at their home Sunday for a number of relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Welby Turpin of Tooele, Utah visited with their mother,' Mrs. ' Julia Turpin last Sunday, also their son, Maurice Turpin and Miss Lorraine Alder. Maurice just returned home from overseas where he spent the past 37 months. He has been serving as a Gunner Mate second class. When his leave is ended he will go to Washington, D. C. to Gunnery Gun-nery School. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nielson and family of Salt Lake City visited with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nielson last week end. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rigby, Mr. and Mrs. Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Jensen and son, Mrs. Merlin Madsen, Mrs. Merl Jensen, Mrs. Arminta Clement, Mrs. Hilda Hil-da Garlic and Mrs. William Rigby visited with Mrs. Gordon Staker at Mt. Pleasant last Thursday. Thurs-day. A delicious hot dinner was served to all present. The time was spent in quilting a beautiful beauti-ful quilt. The "Fireside Chat" club met at the home of Miriam Peterson Sunday evening. The lesson was given by Howard Rigby, after which the time was spent in playing "Rook." Dainty refreshments refresh-ments were served to all present. Mrs. Christen Anderson wishes to thank the South ward Relief societyfor their contribution of two lovely quilts and the North ward Relief Society for the five Afagans contributed for the Army hospital and also Mrs. Oscar Amundsen for the beautiful beauti-ful quilt she contributed to the Red Cross, and all who helped to put over the Red Cross drive so successfully, s Mrs. G. B. Smith is a visitor in Provo this week. The Elders Quorum of the North Ward wil hold a party and dance in the Fairview North Ward chapel Friday evening. A program will be given and refreshments re-freshments will be served, following fol-lowing which the rest of the evening will be spent in dancing. Fireman and Water tender Conrad Con-rad Nielson is home on a 22-day leave. This is Conrad's first visit home in two years. He has seen action on the Attu front and also in the Marshall Islands. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nielsen of Fairview. A welcome home party was held in the Milburn ward chapel last Sautrday evening in honor of Mr. Gordon Jenkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Montie Jenkins, who recently returned home from the New England states mission where he has spent the past 24 months; also a farewell party I was held for Mr. and Mrs. Montie I Jenkins and family, who are moving to California this week to make their home. Miss Frances Coombs last 'Friday went to I Ii 11 Field, Utah where she has employment. Mrs. Dtraa Nordstrom entertained enter-tained the Sewing club at her home Wednesday afternoon. The time was spent in quilting. De-freshments De-freshments were served to all present. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Cox of Salt Lake City were visitors at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Cox last week-end. Mrs. Charles Peterson entertained enter-tained a number of friends at her home Wednesday afternoon. A delicious dinner was served. The afternoon was spent in quilting. |
