Please be referred to your letter of February 17 submitting the names of your Safety Council, and your advice as to the traffic hazard within ycur city limits where a state highway crosses the D&RGW tracks. On February 19, 1 submitted this to Mr. Harry S. Wright, Traffic and Safety Engineer, State Road Commission, and I am just in receipt of the following from him, which is y: "In your letter of February 19 you call to our attention the need lor investigating the D&RGW Railroad crossing in the city of Mt. Pleasant. Pleased be advised that this crossing has been investigated as part of our program covering all railroad crossings in the State of Utah. The late Miss Stein, as you remember, immortalized herself by giving to the world the line which goes, "A rose is a rose is a rose." low comes V. H. with a piece devoted to roses which makes Gertrude sound like a shrinking violet We just had to get that part about the shrinking violet in somewhere. V. H has prepared three pages, single spaced, information about a good many more than the three roses which threw Miss Stein'st admireers into such a tizzy. (On closer examination, it looks as if Miss Stein was talking about only one rose). Anyway, V. II. 's contribution to rose lore contains the names of over 300 different types of roses take that Gertrude and any one of them can be obtained at wholesale price by any North Sanpete resident interested enough to let V. So if you're a rose fancier come on in and get yours. Even if you re not a rose fancier, the thing makes interesting reading. For instance, the list indicates that the guy who named Pullman cars has also had a try at roses. Some examples: !he Irish Fireflame, Little Gem, Los Angeles, Vesuvias, Golden Salmon, Lafayette and Pres. H. Hoover. And speaking of Pres. H. Hoover, he's not the only celebrity whose name got tacked on a rose. There are, according to V. H.'s list, the General McArthur, the Lowell Thomas, the Roger Prior and one named for a fellow named Otto Thillow. Just to give you an idea of what rose growers think of the comparative merits of Pres. H. Hoover and General McArthur as roses, that is the Hoover bloom sells for a buck and the asking price for the general is twice that. But you can get 'em wholesale. We could go on like this indefinitely, but best you come in and get a list for yourself. The lists are free and V. H. says he'll help you choose the types that will look best in your garden.
