Bill may expect ex-pect their subsistence checks not later than November 10, with a majority of the state's 13,000 veteran vet-eran students being paid by November No-vember 1, according to E. A. Littlefield, Lit-tlefield, manager of the Utah regional reg-ional office of the veterans administration. admin-istration. Payments to more than 11,000 students have already been certi-fiad, certi-fiad, and an additional 1,785 claims were being processed at the rate of more than 300 per day and remittances sent out daily. Several hundred students may encounter en-counter additional delay due to the necessity of transferring their files from other states, Littlefield said. Students are cautioned against premature inquiries in event their checks are delayed, because the VA, in anticipation of the usual number of vets giving wrong addresses, ad-dresses, names, and the like, has instituted a new plan, whereby a special VA representative will visit all campuses the second week in November for the specific purpose pur-pose of personally tracking down such cases. Veteran students who have not received their checks by the second sec-ond week in November are requested re-quested to contact these special representatives at the campus VA offices as follows: USAC, U of U, Weber College, BYU, and BAC, on Monday, November 10. Students at Westminister may report on November 1, while the service will be offered at Carbon, Snow and Dixie Colleges on Wednesday, November No-vember 12. Littlefield explained that complaints com-plaints received will be completely investigated at the schools and telephone calls will be authorized to the regional office in Salt Lake City if necessary. If the new plan is successful, it will be repeated each quarter, Littlefield said. |
