Show Tor Democratic Processes In connection with the program pro-gram to extend American assistance as-sistance to Greece, one constantly con-stantly is reminded of the fact that a king is on the throne in Athens and there are charges .that the government of Greece is reactionary. While we would prefer to have a Republican form of government gov-ernment in Greece, the type of government in existence is no really the issue. The plight of Greece arises from the pressure of organized bands, which, according ac-cording to reports, receive sustenance, sus-tenance, strength and support from other powers. Facing such a threat, the cause of Greek independence depends upon the ability of the i existing government, whatever I it might be. to put down dis-I dis-I order. Until this is done, there I is no probability whatever of law and order which are neces-sary neces-sary to a use of democratic i functions. |
