CHICAGO The Moody Bible Institute, In-stitute, often referred to as the "West Point of Christian Service," will launch a world-wide two-year celebration on February 2, 1936, with the opening of the 30th annual annu-al Founder's Week Conference. The important events to be celebrated are the D. L. Moody Centenary and the Institute Jubilee. The Jubilee, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Institute, will be observed dur-! dur-! i iag 1936, and the Centenary during '1937 will mark the 100th anniversary anniver-sary of tha birth of Mr. Moody. President Houghton announces a crusade of friendship, to enlist 60,000 new friends, during the Jubilee Ju-bilee celebration and during the Centenary chief emphasis will b placed on Evangelism, Bible study and th place of the layman, each of which was a strong point In Mr. Moody's Ufa work. Churches in all parts of the world, many of them under the leadership of Institute graduates, are Invited to participate in the celebration, by observing Moody Day on Sunday, Sun-day, February 2, and holding one-day one-day Bible conferences during the year. The Institute will supply program pro-gram Information to all pastors on request Since Its establishment In 18S6 the Institute has enjoyed a steady growth until today its Chicago educational edu-cational and administrative plant consists of 3S buildings; the faculty facul-ty and staff totals approximately : 200; the student roster of the day and evening schools exceeds 1,800 and the correspondence school en- j rollment is In excess of 10,000. World renowned religious leaders of many denominations will address the Founder's Week Conference, which will last eight days. The speakers will Include evangelists, ministers, Bible teachers and foreign for-eign and home missionaries. Day sessions will be held In the Institute auditorium and evening sessions will be held in the Moody Memorial Church. j |
