Bardell Larsen, high J school faculty members, mom'ocrs of the North Sanpete school board, and mothers cf the North Sanpete High Schcsl Band Mothers' Association As-sociation were feted at the high school Wednesday night by the President and President's Committee Commit-tee cf the latter organization. The special guests cf honor were the band boys and Mr. Larsen, who is leaving seen to assume a position at Cedar City: The following program was given: Selection, band; saxophone solo, Eugene Peterson; song, Ralph Hafen: Ha-fen: selection, band; cornet nolo, O. Following the prrgram, a watermelon water-melon bust was enjoyed by those present Struck by an automobile a short dis.ance north cf Mcroni while going to lunch Monday at 11:45 a. m., Eras'.us J. Curtis, 61. of Moroni, Mo-roni, was fatally injured. He suffered suffer-ed a broken neck and a compound skul! fracture. Mr. Curtis and seven FERA workers, who had been improving the Moroni city cemetery, were Kalkiny tiward Moroni on the tate highway when a southbound oar, driven, by Glen Draper of Ruth, Nevada apprcached. The seven men ran for the left side of the road, while Mr. Curtis lan to the right, into the path of the crco:ning machine. Mr. Diapnr, who was en reute to Moroni to attend the funeral of his father, Marvin Draper, rushed the b:dy cf Mr. Curtis into town. After being questioned by city arc", county officers, Mr. Draper wp-s released, it appearing that he hod not been at fault Mr. Curtis was born in Moroni March 18. 1873, the son of Erastus and Margaret Curtis, early pioneers cf Moroni. He was married to Mary Ann Blackman December 15, 1898, in th2 Man'i temple. Surviving are tlr? following five children: Darwil Curtis, Cur-tis, Garfield; Mrs. Byron Hansen, Manti and Mrs. Clarence Nielsen, Mrs. Clark Anderson and Leon Curtis of Moroni. Nine grandchildren, grandchil-dren, a brother, Morion, of Moroni, Moro-ni, and four halfbrothers: Uriah of Salt Lake, John and Charles of Orangeville, aind William Curtis of Idaho, also survive. Funeral services w-ere held in the Morcni East ward chapel Wednesday Wednes-day at 1 p. m., with Bishop Morgan Mor-gan Lamb in charge. The choir sang, "Abide With Ms" and "Tlio Deepening Trials Throng Your Way." Prayers, were offered by Josiah Blackham and Harry J. . Pe'.ersen. James Lar'on, John I. Morley, Bishop Ephraim Nelson, Urvin Gee and Bishop Lamb were the speakers. speak-ers. Special music included a duet, "Com? Unto Me." by Mi's. Lawrence Larson and Mrs. Floyd Sperry, accompanied by Mrs. Ophelia Rhodes; instrumental duet, Lewis and Bord Blackham, accompanied by Mrs. Rhodes; duet, "The Prayer Pray-er Perfect," Mrs. Elmo Irons and Mrs. Ernest Anderson, accompanied accompa-nied by Miss Katheren Anderson. |
