Show Merit Examination System Announced Anncncement of Utah's first merit examination system was made in Salt Lake by Ray R. Adams. Director of the Unemployment Compensation Division of the State Industrial Commission. This merit system is re quired lv law ana ny the social security T'oard. Examinations for field advisers will be held September 13. Examinations Exam-inations for stenographers will be held September 14,. Examinations will be held in Salt Lake, Provo, Richfield, Price, Cedar City, Ogden. and L.gan. Persons desiring to take the examinations ex-aminations must have their applications appli-cations in by August 28. The examination ex-amination will be under the direction direc-tion of C. E. Pickett, iSuperviscr of Personnel of the Division. Mr. Pickett will be advised and his acts reviewed by a Citizens' Committee, which is composed of Dr. E. E. Ericksen of the University of Utah, J. R. Bachmian of Ogden, Secretary cf the Amalgamated Sugar Company, Comp-any, and William M. Knerr, Chairman Chair-man of the State Industrial Comi-miission. Comi-miission. Examinations will be in three parts experience, written test, and a personal interview. The Citizens' Committee will establish a Merit Register after the examinations, and all hiring must be done from the top three on the list. Employees Employ-ees having temporary appointments will be considered eligible f-r retention re-tention of their positions if they pass the qualifying competitive examination. ex-amination.
