Show Hansel and Gretel Opera Set for Friday, Saturday The Utah Valley Opera Association Assoc-iation Is announcing its third major ma-jor opera production of the 1959-60 1959-60 season for the people of Utah Valley. The well-known and beloved be-loved "Hansel and Gretel" by Humperdinck will be given in the Provo High School Auditorium in Provo, on Jan. 22 and 23, 1960. In accordance with many requests, re-quests, there will be both reserved seats and general admission seats for both of these performances. The reserved seats sell at $1.50 and the general admission at $1. There is a wide selection of seats in the general admission group. Tickets went on sale Monday, Jan. 18 at the J. Edwin Stein Co. office at 47 iNorth University Avenue in Provo. Patrons may call in and reserve tickets by calling FR 4-1634. The box office at the high school will be open on the nights of performance perform-ance at 7 pjii. with the opera starting at 8:15 p.m. Mrs. Margaret Woodward will sing Hansel and Mrs. Ina Lou Cheney will sing Gretel. The witch will call for Mrs. Florence Rogers. A chorus of local talent will also perform as will a group of dancers. Karen Grimmett . has staged the pantomime dance. Carl Fuerstner will be the musical mus-ical direotor and conductor. The opera will be accompanied with a two-piano arrangement which will be played by Carl Fuerstner and Barbara Allen. Robert Chambers Cham-bers is the stage director. Stage sets were designed by Max Go-lightly. |
