Show Reader Backs Up Scribe on State Birthday Parry In response to a by-lined article ar-ticle of Januai-y 7, a Review reader from out Lindon way regrets re-grets the lack of observance of Utah's Birthday in Pleasant Grove. Her letter reads in part : Ekear K.B. Your recent article on Utah's Birthday was wonderful and much enjoyed. I hope important people, teachers and elected officers, of-ficers, take heed. It's a disgraceful disgrace-ful situation. A native Easterner, I have lived liv-ed in Utah for 14 years and this is the first time I- ever knew that Utah even had a birthday. I guess I thought, like "Topsy" she "just growed." I have never heard it mentioned men-tioned before and I read the papers, pap-ers, watch television and listen to the radio. For what it's worth I sent your article on to U.S. Senator Frank Moss, wrote two letters to members mem-bers of the Alpine Board of Education Edu-cation and one to my children's school. I hope someone makes January 4 a day for statewide observance of this historic day. As to your idea about the State Flag, I'm all for it. I hope your article has done some good. And that next year we'll see Utah's birthday observe ance in the schools at least. Sincerely, Mrs. Vera Harding |
