Show Local Reserve Unit; Pay Strength Ss Now Increased to Plans for reorganization of the U.S. Army Reserve unit in Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove under the "pentomic" conoept were announced today by Senator Wallace F. Bennett. Under the reorganization, PI. Grove will retain one company-sized company-sized Reserve unit, which it now has. The unit, which now has an authorized strength of 69 and an assigned strength of 52, will be increased to a pay drili strength of 96. Throughout Utah, there will be a decrease of five in the number of company-size units. Salt Lake City will lose three, and Logan and Provo one each. However, the number of officers and men authorized for Reserve units in the State will be increased from 2,862 to 4,605. Although the maximum for pay strength will be increased, about 35 officers throughout the State will be declared surplus by the reorganization because of the decrease in the number of units, Senator Bennett said. They will be given an opportunity to join control groups, or training units where they will receive no pay but can earn retirement points. Purpose of the reorganization is to make Army Reserve units conform with the active duty Army Ar-my units in structure. The basic unit under the pentomic concept ds the battle group instead of the company. Senator Bennett emphasized that no communities in Utah will ibe vacated by the Reserve, and that no facilities now in use or under construction will be abandoned. aban-doned.
