Show Lindon Citizens Are Honored by Lions Ciub for Service Two of Lindon's outstanding citizens, cit-izens, Thelma Swenson and H. V. Holdaway were honored by the Lindon Lions Club Friday evening. even-ing. These two were selected for outstanding achievement- for the; good of the community for the past year. Vice President Oliver K. Johnson John-son introduced the lady of the year, Thelma Swenson. He spoke of her many achievements and had the chairman of the vote committee, commit-tee, Pearl Chapman present her a beautiful Lady Elgin compact. A few of Mrs. Swenson's community commun-ity act were: Secretary of the Lindon Lin-don Second Ward Relief Society, President of the Variety Club, Room mother of the Lindon Elementary Ele-mentary Second Grade, she assisted assist-ed on the March of Dimes, Huck Finn Day, the Easter Egg Hunt and many, many other endeavors along with working side by side with her husband President O. L. Swenson on all Lions Club pix jects. for this year. She is first and always a good mother, wife and neighbor and the club members commended and congratulated her on her untiring services to Lindon. The President of the Lindon Lions Club Oscar Lee Swenson extended ex-tended a word) of appreciation and approval as he presented the Lindon Lin-don Man of the Year, H. V. Hold-away Hold-away with a pair of cuff links with the Lions insignia on. He spoke of Mr. Holdaway's various activities for the past year which included constant support of all club projects, pro-jects, along with serving as Deputy Dep-uty District Governor of District 28 A; Manual Counselor in the Lindon Lin-don Ward MIA; Ward Teacher; Chairman of the March of Dimes; Fair Board Member; Committeeman Committee-man on several events in the club and also chairman of a successful barbecue to raise funds for the club at the last community fair. Mr. Holdaway was also commended commend-ed for his willingness to support and see through ail worthwhile community projects, religious and civic. |
