Dr. Moffitt as guest speaker gave a very interesting and informative infor-mative talk on the purposes and work of the United Nations. Dr. Moffitt has served on two of the committees of U.N., having been one of the members of the original U.N.E.S.C.O. Dr. Moffitt said that the present generation is not keeping records as faithfully as their pioneer ancestors an-cestors did and this is one of our important responsibilities. Some things must have happened in our world to want us to organize and keep a U.N. We need understanding understand-ing of all peoples and be able to work for ithe good of all. We, in this country should be concerned for education of everyone. every-one. Almost one-half of the peoples of the world can neither read nor write. Health and suspicions among peoples are some of the -world's great problems. Billions of dollars are spent dn watching other people but much less is spent in learning to live together. Man everywhere has a spark of divinity in him. U.N. is a place where people can come together and talk things over. It is a cooling off place, our greatest hope in helping us to keep peace. More changes have taken place in the world since World War. II than itoo'k place in all history before. be-fore. Our greatest contest now is the contest of knowledge. A different dif-ferent world has been created and the end) lis not yet. Many of the horrors and devastating forces of the destructive powers of man have been offset by the beauties of the world. At no time in history has man enjoyed such luxuries and conveniences as they do today." A delicious tray luncheon was served by the hostess.
