Show Funeral Rites Held Monday For Mrs. Bengta Hanson Funeral rites were conducted Monday in the Second-Fourth ward chapel for Mrs. Bengta Hanson, 78. The impressive service began at 1 p.m. with Bishop Elwood Allen of the Second ward in charge. The opening number, "Sister Thou Was't Mild and Lovely" was sung by the Singing Mothers, directed dir-ected by Mrs. Leland Beers and accompanied by Mrs. Ernest Makin. Invocation was offered by J. Howard Nelson of the Second Ward Bishopric. Biographical sketch of Mrs. Hanson's life was given by a grand-daughter Connie H. Bowen. A piano selection by Clark Roberts, Rob-erts, a grandson. First speaker was Reed O. Walker, former Bishop of the 2nd ward, who paid tribute to the memory of Mrs. Hanson,, ior ner humility and faith in the gospel, which she accepted in her early life in Sweden. He was followed by a vocal solo "One Sweetly Solemn Thought", by Clyde Barraclough. He was accompanied ac-companied by Mrs Harvey Raw-linson. Raw-linson. Mauritz Marlowe ,a nephew of Mrs. Hanson, who after paying high tribute to the memory of his aunt, her struggles and accomp- r lishments, spoke of eternal mar- t riage and eternal progression. Closing remarks of sympathy and appreciation for the family were made by Bishop Allen. The Singing Mothers sang, "Now The Day Is Over." Benediction was pronounced by Irving Russon, a son-in-law. Interment directed by Olpin Mortuary was made in the family plot in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, where the dedicatorial prayer was uttered by Walter Bowen, a grandson. Pallbearers, grandsons were Wayne Russon, Wendell Russon, Stanley Swenson, Paul Hanson, Keyne Thorne, Dennis Hanson. Flowers were cared for and arranged ar-ranged by the Second Ward Re- lief Society. Mrs. Hanson was born April 15, 1875 in Sweden, daughter of Neils and Hannah Gordanson Paulson. Paul-son. She came to the United States in 1899. She married Ola Hanson Sept. 24, 1897. He died in February, 1950. Survivors are seven of her eight children, Mrs. Esther Carlson, Bacchus; Hilding Hanson, Santa Monica, Cal.; Hannah Russon, Roosevelt; Lillie Lloyd, Hunter; Mrs. Leda Thorne, Pleasant Grove; Joseph Hanson, American Fork; Genieve Barraclough, Salt Lake City; 36 grandchildren; 21 greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, one sister, Marie Marlowe, Kent, Wash. |
