Show Mothers Study Club Hear Book Review At Last Meeting Mrs. A. P. Warnick welcomed Mothers Study Club and other guests to her home in Manila on Thursday afternoon. In the absence ab-sence of club president, Mrs. H. S. Richards, secretary Mrs. William Wil-liam C. Smith presided. Mrs. Junius A. West read the club collect. For entertainment of the ladies, A. P. Warnick reviewed re-viewed the book of Jedediah Smith, "Opening of the West," by Dale Morgan. Mr. Warnick, who has made a study of western history, pointed out interesting facts about Jedediah Smith. He said he was not the usual type explorer, he loved lov-ed adventure and financed his own groups or companies. He carried a bible in one hand and a gun in the other. He kept careful journals jour-nals and diaries of his travels; his maps and sketches are authentic. The wrest owes him much. Later a tasty tray luncheon was served to club members and guests Mrs. Vance West, Mrs. Keith Warnick, War-nick, Mrs. J. L. Thome; Mrs. Vernon Ver-non Ahman and daughter Marianne. |
