Show Stake Relief Society Was Real Success One of the very lovely and cultural cul-tural affairs of the late summer was the Timpanogos Stake Relief Society opening social held Monday Mon-day evening in the Second ward chapel and recreation hall. Geor-geous Geor-geous summer flowers featuring Glads, roses and asters formed a fitting scene for the seasonal e-vent. e-vent. Mrs. S. W. Hilton program chairman was in charge, and introduced in-troduced Mrs. Margaret Masters, on whom they pinned a beautiful corsage of white mums. The congregation sang O Ye Mountains High and Margaret Olpln, Relief Society president of the First ward offered the invocation. invoc-ation. Mrs. Margaret Caldwell, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Alice Judd played a violin solo; Miss Maurine Ped-erson Ped-erson gave a humorous reading, Rabbit Plus; Mrs. Bernice Christ-ensen, Christ-ensen, Melba Calder and Dian Ohme rendered a vocal trio. They , were accompanied by Mrs. Mary Neves, who also played the prelude organ music prior to the program. Guest speaker Mrs. Margaret Masters of KSL fame and newspaper news-paper feature writer won the hearts of everyone with her winning win-ning personality and her homey philoesophies, as she told of her early life, her conversion to the LUH church and her coming to Salt Lake City. The Second ward ladies chorus, directed by Mrs. Mabel Jense, sang the closing number, after which Pearl Chapman of Lindon ward pronounced the benediction. Refreshments were served at a beautifully decorated long table in the recreation hall. Each ward presented a gift of appreciation to Mrs. Masters. Responsibilities for the affair were divided as follows: Program Mrs. Lydia Hilton, and Presidents of the other wards; Refreshments chairman Mrs. Florence Gillman, and a counselor from each other vard; Decorations, Leda Thorne, and a cunselor from each ward. |
