I Party Proves A Fine Success True to pioneer life in the dim light of only the fireplace and candles, the Daughters of the Pioneers Pio-neers and guests enjoyed a very pleasant meeting and party in the log cabin on Tuesday evening, April Ap-ril 29. The affair especially honored the living pioneers of this community, Ezra Walker, 88, Mary Olsen, 86. Anna Johnson, 87, Alexander Gray and George Shoell. Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Gray were unable to be present. Captain Lucile H. Walker was in ch?rge. A lesson taken from the journal of Mrs. Louisa Barnes Pratt, was given by classleader Nora Macfarlane. A biography of Ezra F. Walker was given by his daughter, Mrs. Ruth W. Lovell. This was taken from his own autobiography. Each of the pioneers present told of amusing am-using incidents of school days, recreation, rec-reation, courtship etc, from early days. Music was directed by Chorister Cleone Kirk and organist Mary Neves. Committee in charge of the tasty luncheon included Maurine Simper, chairman and Lucile H. Walker, Ellen Hebertson, Gertrude Richards and Vilate West. Logs for the fire were provided by Thea A. Jacob. 47 people were present. The History of Utah County, compiled by the DUP, which is now off the press was shown and given in charge of Mrs. Thea A. Jacob, the history committee chairman, and those who wish can get their copy by contacting Mrs. Jacob. J |
