Show The History of Utah County being be-ing completed by County Chapter of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, went to press Monday, December 15. The history is being published as a Centennial project of the D. U. P. with each camp doing their own town. Historians for Pleasant Grove section is D. U. P. historians of the D. U. P. Captain Lucile H. Walker and Rose B. Hayes. These energetic ladies have spent more than two months in research work, having read 400 biographies, contacted con-tacted older settlers of the community, comm-unity, found information from histories written by Andrew Jensen, Jen-sen, May Grua, and that completed last year by the Sixth grade of the Central School, and from Dr. Howard How-ard R. Driggs, besides studying old diaries ana documents. The book will also have illustrations illus-trations of each community. Mrs. Gertrude Richards is responsible for the typing. County Historian, Emma Huff is acting as editor in chief, assisted in the North end of the county by Mrs. Edith Jones of American Fork, assistant county historian. The history will be published in March. Orders are being solicited now, in order that those in charge may knaw how many numbers should be published. The sale of the history his-tory for the local camp is being directed by Mrs. Thea A. Jacob, committee chairman and Mrs. Emma Em-ma Overlade, Mrs. Mabel Sykes, and Captain Lucile H. Walker, and those interested are asked to place their order with one of these ladies. lad-ies. The finished history will cost $3.00, $1.00 to be placed with orders, or-ders, and $2.00 upon delivery. |
