Show Skating Pond Being Put In Fine Shape The Central School skating pond is being put in fine shape and with a few cold nights will soon be one of the centers of recreation, not only on-ly for the school children, but for the community, says Ray S. Merrill, Mer-rill, Principal of the Central school. Much credit is given and appreciation apprec-iation extended to all who have helped to bring this project about. Glen with the use of the city grader, has enlarged and cleared the pond; the Mothers Club contributed con-tributed $42 for lights and seats; the Jaycees installed the lights and seats. The Lions club gave 200 feet of hose for the spraying of the ice, the Chamber of Commerce will pay for the spraying. Help is also to come from the school board and the City. If the freeze keeps up, hundreds of sport lovers will find enjoyment at the pond. Principal Merrill also sends out a request that anyone having skates for which they have no use, and of which they would dispose, tie them securely, place your name and cost on the tag and send them to the Central school, where, says Mr. Merrill, they could be sold. Skates are hard to obtain, and this method would make it possible for more youngsters to enjoy the winter sports. |
