Vfet vsN S I feMRl II At first glaftce it might appear that the busy mm and women pictured above are engaged in the joyful Yuleride task of trimming Christmas trees. But, unfortunately, they are not. Their deft and skillful fingers are engaged in a vastly different job. They are putting the finishing touches on the big new R-2800 Pratt & Whitney 18-cylindor aircraft engines of more than 2,000 horsepower now being volume-produced in plants of the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors Corp. Thcv are designed to power fighter and bomber planes, including the P-61 Biack Widow night fighters and the latest P-47 Thunderbolts. It is well known that the mission of these long-range, long-range, last and high-flying planes is to give the Axij a "trimming" in the nir and on the ground. |
