Show Vikings Win Crucial Battle Over American Fork Cavemen By Kenneth Wright Proving the old saying that reserves re-serves are the backbone of the team. Pleasant Grove Vikings defeated the American Fork Cavemen 42-38 without with-out the services of Kelly Giles, a victim of the "flu". The Cavemen led all through the first half, the quarter score reading 14 to 7 for American Fork, half score 22 to 15. In the third quarter the Vikings came back to take the lead, 33 to 28. It was in the last quarter that the Vikings' reserve strength stood out. The Cavemen came to 38-40 within the last minute, but Elwood Sund-berg Sund-berg got one from close in to make the score read 42 to 38. For uie Vikings, all men showed up well, but Byron Carter led the Vikings attack with 19 points for high score of the game. Crystal and Holmstead led the Cavemen with 14 and 15 points, respectively. |
