Show Marton Monson Funeral Held Here Thursday From the American Fork Citizen Funeral services for Martin Monson, 64, were held in the First vard chapel Thursday, Nov. 29, at 2 p. m. with Counselor Counse-lor Darrell G. Proctor officiating. Mr. Monson died in a Salt Lake hospital Sunday, Nov. 25, of a heart ailment. Lawrence M. Atwood, former bishop of the Manila ward, Dr. Mark K. Allen, and Elder Clifford Clif-ford E. Young were the speakers. Mr. Atwood, a lifelong acquaintance, acquaint-ance, spoke of his appreciation of the family, of their many fine qualities and then discussed the three phases of existance as taught by the gospel of Christ. Dr. Allen spoke briefly of his ousiness association with both Mr. and Mrs. Monson and Elder '-- Young spoke of the reality of tho life hereafter. Relief Society chorus of the Third ward sang as an opening number "Bless This House," a favorite selection of the deceased. deceas-ed. Between speakers Schar-meer Schar-meer chorus, accompanied by Irene Shelley sang "The Lord's Prayer," George and Ivan Monson Mon-son with Gwen Adams as accompanist ac-companist sang "Say Not I Journey Alone," and Barney Rawlings accompanied by Mrs. Owen Humphries sang "In the Garden". Ray Shelley, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Humphries closed with "Going Home". Closing remarks were made by Mr. Proctor. The invocation was offered by Joseph W. Hoglund, the benediction pronounced by President Jesse M. Walker and the dedicatory prayer at the - - t-leasant Grove cemetery given by President Delbert Chipman. Mr:-i. Humphries and Robert M. Brown played the prelude and postlude. |
