Show Funeral Held Monday For Mrs. Ida Smith The Second Ward Chapel was well filled Friday afternoon with relatives and friends who came to pay respect to the memory of Ida F.- Smith and express sympathy sym-pathy and appreciation for her family. With Bishop's councillor Ernest Ern-est P. Smith in charge, the impressive im-pressive service began at 2 o'clock. o'-clock. The opening number, Rock of Ages was sung 'by the Second Ward Singing Mothers. They were directed by Mrs. Mabel Jense and accompanied by Mrs. Mary Nelson. Harvey S. Richards, a nephew of Mrs. Smith offered the invocation. invo-cation. A sketch of the life of the departed was given by Mrs. Ethel Allen, a niece. First speaker was Elvin Th-r-ne who among other 'things gave some valuable thoughts on the early life of Mrs. Smith and her parents. Bishop Reed O. Walker paid wonderful tribute to Mrs. Smith as a mother and to all motherhood mother-hood and closed his remarks by reading My Mothers' Hands. Closing remarks expressing sympathy for and appreciation of the family and love for Aunt Ida were made by Ernest Smith. Musical num'bers beside the opening chorus included a vocal duet, In the 'Garden, by Mrs. Stella Hardman and Mrs. Viola Beers, a violin solo, O Dry Those Tears by Mrs. Marilyn Wright, and the closing number, Sister Thou Wer't Mild and Lively, by the Singing Mothers. Mrs. Mary Nelson accompanied all numbers and played the prelude and port-lude port-lude music. Benediction was pronounced 'by G. S. Hillman. Internment directed by Olpin Mortuary was made in the family fam-ily plot in the Pleasant Grove City cemetery where the dedicatory dedica-tory prayer was offered by Bishop Bish-op C. R. Clark. Pall bearers, grandsons of the dead woman were Bert, Paul, and Charles Lindstrom, Albert and John Smith and Don Steels. Floral Flor-al tributes were arranged and cared for by close friends and neighbors. Mrs. Smith died Sept. 5 at her residence following a three weeks illness of causes incident to age. She wash orn May 17 1S69 in Pleasant Grove, the daughter of Sara Ann Thorne and Jacob Fou-tz. Fou-tz. She was married to John M. Smith Dec. 4, 1890 in the Manti temple. " An active member of the church chur-ch of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Mrs. Smith ha' served in the primary and Relief Society in Mammoth, Utah and was president pres-ident of the Pleasant Grove Second Sec-ond ward Relief Society for many-years. many-years.
